The 90's Tag

The 90's Tag Blog

Happy Friday! To break up the content on my blog, I thought I'd add a fun lifestyle post into the mix and as I haven't done a tag in while, I thought I would do one of those! I saw the 90's tag over at Jesstastics and although I was only born in 1995 and wasn't actually around for much of the 90's I still wanted to do it!

1. Favourite Disney Movie?
My favourite Disney movie as a child was definitely Sleeping Beauty. I don't even know what it was about it that I loved so much, but I would just watch it on repeat! I also liked to have some chocolate spread on toast whilst watching it too - best combo!

2. Favourite Music Artist?
When I was really young, I was completely obsessed with the Spice Girls! I loved all their songs and I really loved watching the Spice World movie (still a firm favourite of mine, may I add) and as I got a little older I loved S Club 7 and Britney Spears!

3. Favourite Nickelodeon Jr. Show?
I don't think we had Nick Jr. in the 90's, I think that channel came a little later to the UK?

4. Favourite Candy?
I really loved going to my corner shop and getting the Pic'n'Mix sweets or 'bit sweets' as I used to call them back then haha and I remember really loving Fruit Salad and Black Jacks! I tried them again a few years ago, definitely not as good as I remember!

5. Favourite Game?
The games I remember playing and loving are Cluedo, Guess Who, Pop Up Pirate and Hungry Hippos!

6. Favourite McDonald's Toy?
I didn't really go to McDonald's in the 90's! My Dad was very against me eating it haha, but I think the ones that I loved the most were when they had those 101/102 Dalmatian teddies and I really wanted to collect them ALL, sadly I didn't, but I did get a fair few!

7. Favourite Book?
Just like most young girls I loved anything by Jacqueline Wilson! It was her books that first really got me into reading and I still have some of her books somewhere because I could never bear to part with them haha! I also really loved Goosebumps books too!

8. Favourite Clothing Store?
Like most girls, it was definitely Tammy Girl! I really loved going in there and I was heartbroken when the one in my town closed down.

9. What Would You Watch When You Got Home From School?
Lizzie McGuire, Rugrats, Recess, That's So Raven, Worst Witch, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, My Parents are Aliens, Saved by the Bell, Oh, I miss how good TV programmes used to be!

10. Favourite TV Show?
When I was really young I have fond memories of watching the cartoon Little Bear and it was recently added to Netflix and I had no shame in watching it again!

11. Favourite Toys?
I was completely obsessed with Polly Pocket and My Little Ponies I collected so many of each!

12. Weirdest Fashion Trend?
The hair back then was pretty shocking all round. Hair mascaras, over crimped hair and those hideous really cheap, plastic looking hair extensions!

13. 'Nsync or Backstreet Boys?
I was never bothered by either to be honest, but if I had to choose it would probably be Backstreet Boys!

14. Favourite Collectable?
Probably the little Polly Pocket sets! I had a fair few, but if I ever saw any at the boot sale I had to have them!

15. Favourite Beanie Baby?
I didn't actually have that many, just a few of the cats and the peace one! My cousin had loads and I was always so jealous haha.

16. How Many Tamagotchis Did You Go Through?
I believe I only had one and it was pink!

17. Favourite Game System and Game?
I LOVED the Playstation 1! And my favourites games were definitely the first Harry Potter game and 102 Dalmatians. I've played the Harry Potter game recently and couldn't believe how poor the graphics were haha!

And that's all the questions! I hope you enjoyed this, I've really loved writing this post and visiting memory lane. I won't tag anyone, but I would love to read your answers if you do decide to do it.

Meet Buzz!

Hello Lovelies, I hope you're all well! Today I thought I'd write a little post to announce that on Saturday we finally went to pick up our Golden Retriever puppy! We'd been wanting to get a dog for a long time and we felt the time was right. We were a little wary when it came to choosing a breeder because my boyfriend Charlie has had an issue before, but we couldn't of been more lucky and found the perfect breeder! We put a deposit down on our puppy just after we got back from Brighton, but I decided to stay completely silent on the matter because it felt way too good to be true and I didn't want to jinx it! It was complete torture counting down the days until we could finally go and pick him up and when we went, the whole litter were still there and they were all such lovely puppies! If you're looking to buy either a Labrador or Golden Retriever puppy, feel free to email me and I'll pass on her details!

Today he's 8 weeks old and we've now had him for five days and he's settled in perfectly. He's also now had his first injection, I cannot wait until all his injections are complete and I can take him out for walks! The only slight problem we have is that the cats aren't too sure of him yet and I hate seeing them so nervous. If you have any tips on making them feel a little more comfortable, please let me know!

I'll probably do a little update post in the near future, but if you do want to see more of him, I became one of those super cringey people to make their pet an Instagram haha! - @TheAdventuresOfBuzz.. In my defense I only made it because I wanted to upload a few pictures a day to look back on because Golden Retrievers grow super fast and I didn't want to annoy people on my normal account.

And the last thing I want to mention - in terms of blogging, I managed to get a few posts scheduled, but posts might be a little slow at the moment. Puppies are alot of work and require alot of attention.

Thanks for reading!

Eyeliner Made Easy?

Maybelline Gel Eyeliner Review Blog
Zoeva Rose Gold 317 Wing Brush

Eyeliner has never been my forte. Ever since I first started wearing makeup, it was always the thing I wanted so much to perfect, but here I am six years later and i'm still pretty clueless when it comes to those dreaded cat flicks. I've tried a whole range of different options over the years - kohl pencils, liquid liner pens, gel pots and even a simple bit of black eyeshadow, but I've never been happy with how it looks... until now.

I think the key to creating the perfect wing is using whatever you feel comfortable with. For me I definitely think it's a gel pot and an angled brush because I feel like you have so much more control and if you do make a mistake, it's easy to correct. If I'm in a rush I won't even attempt eyeliner because I think it's best to take your time, it's such a horrible feeling when you know your makeup looks rubbish. As it's not something I use everyday I haven't felt the need to invest in anything high end and my current go to product is one that I've been loving for a few years - the Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner which retails at £7.99 and the pot lasts absolutely ages. The product itself is so creamy and glides onto the lid without any need of tugging!

I've tried many different brushes over the years, but I had never found one that actually worked for me and then for Christmas I received the Zoeva Rose Gold Brushes and I completely fell in love with the 317 Wing Liner Brush which retails at only £5.95 when bought separately, such a bargain! It's the most perfect angled brush that creates a perfect thin line and wing. My eyeliner still isn't perfect, but it's a lot better than it was and practice makes perfect, doesn't it?

Are you a fan of gel eyeliners?

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge Review
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge Review
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge Review

Makeup sponges are something that had never really appealed to me before, until I heard everyone raving about the Beauty Blender. I definitely wanted to give it a go, but the £15 price tag always put me off. I had a look around for some cheaper alternatives, but for some reason I never got round to buying any and then for Christmas I received the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge and I couldn't wait to try it! I really love all the brushes I've tried from Real Techniques, so I had high expectations for this sponge and it didn't disappoint!

The sponge retails at only £4.99 and can be used either wet or dry. My main concern before trying it was that it might be really hard to work with and scratchy on the face, so I've always opted to use it wet. To do this I simply just soak it under some cool water and squeeze out any excess. I've heard beauty sponges work alot better with full coverage foundations, so I've been using it with my beloved Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation. I simply pump a small amount of foundation onto the back of my hand and using the flat edge of the sponge, I start applying it all over my face in a kind of patting motion. Silk Creme can sometimes look a little heavy, but when applied with the sponge it looks so much more natural and glowy!

The only slight niggles I have is that using a sponge takes a lot longer to apply foundation than a brush does, which is slightly annoying when you're in a rush. And I also find it really difficult to get completely clean and I hate using something that looks dirty on my face. It seems to wear away pretty quickly too, mine has already torn slightly in  few places and I've only had it a couple of months.

Overall, I'm a huge fan of the Miracle Complexion Sponge from Real Techniques, I think it's one of the best budet buys I've found in a long time and I definitely will repurchase when mine starts to fall apart a little more.

What are your thoughts on makeup sponges?

Brighton Haul

Hello Lovelies! I hope you're all well and are having a lovely weekend! Today's post is another haul. This time I'll be showing you some of the things I bought in Brighton that aren't beauty related!

Sass & Belle Bunny
First up are the items I picked up from Sass & Belle! I've been wanting to buy a jewellery dish for quite some time now, but I never knew which one to go for (unicorn, cat or bunny) but in the end I opted for the bunnyWhat I love the most about Sass & Belle is that they have so many items with the cutest quotes on them. I picked up a tin that has a little bear on the front and it says 'Do more of what makes you happy' I love this quote SO much! And I also picked up a plaque that says 'Bee happy' .

The next items are from the store England at Home! If you've ever been before, you'll know that they sell the most amazing cushions, not only do they have the best prints/images on them, but they also feel really good quality. There's nothing worse than buying a cushion and it being completely flat within a couple of weeks. If I had my way I would of bought tons of cushions (I am obsessed) but as they're £34.99 each I settled for just the one and I opted for the panda one in the end, mainly because I know my boyfriend loves pandas too, so it's something we both like! And I also picked up the book I Could Pee on This It's basically a poem book 'written by cats' some of the poems are amazing and SO funny, others are pretty poor, but as I have cats of my own some of them are pretty relatable!

This was actually one of my birthday presents, but I thought I'd add it in here anyway as I got it around the time I was away in Brighton! I've needed a new phone case for a while and I've always wanted a Ted Baker one - this actual one is called Sugar Sweet and it has such a lovely floral print. They are more expensive than the average phone case, but they feel alot more durable than other phone cases I've had!

I also took a trip to Waterstones and the Waterstones in Brighton is pretty damn huge and to be honest I was completely overwhelmed, so I decided to just look for the little Youtuber book section, so I could purchase Tanya's book! I also went over to Urban Outfitters and finally purchased It by Alexa Chung! I've been seeing quotes from this book all over Tumblr for the longest time and I've always wanted to actually own a copy. I'm not sure why but it seems to be pretty hard to get hold of in hardback form now and it's pretty expensive in Urban Outfitters retailing at £16.99!

Also from Urban Outfitters I also picked up this drinking cup. I really wanted to get a couple from the Disney store, but the one in Brighton has closed down, which makes me sad!

Just like many other bloggers I really want to join the bandwagon and start my own scrapbook. Most people I'm aware of are going down to Project Life route, but it all seemed pretty expensive, so I thought I'd just go old school, buy a scrapbook and do whatever I fancy! Everything I've bought so far it from Paperchase.

From Tiger I picked up a bunny cotton wool holder. The Wonderland ones were being stocked in Boots during the festive period and I really wanted one, but I didn't really want to pay £10, so I was so happy to see these being sold in Tiger for around £2! And I also picked up some heart shaped measuring cups, whenever I find recipes online they are always in cup measurements, so these will come in so handy!

Although I did just turn 20 that doesn't stop the obsession I have with Disney and there's nothing I love more than visiting the Disney store and picking out a new plush toy, but as Brighton no longer have a Disney store I headed to Build a Bear instead and purchased Olaf. He's so soft and smells like bubblegum!

And lastly I bought two pairs of shoes - I've been wanting a new pair of ankle boots for a while now, my current favourite ones are from Primark, but the heel was starting to really wear down. I had a look round various shops and then I found some lovely suede ones in River Island. There was a choice between beige and grey and I loved both, but I opted for the grey ones in the end because I thought they would look cleaner for longer. And I also picked up some new ballet flats from New Look which are also suede and have a gold chain on the front.

And that's it! I hope you've been enjoying my recent hauls! What have you been picking up recently?

Book Review | Girl Online

Zoella Zoe Sugg Girl Online Book Review
Zoella Zoe Sugg Girl Online Book Review
Zoella Zoe Sugg Girl Online Book Review
Girl Online // Zoe Sugg // Link

As soon as I heard Zoe Sugg - more famously known as Zoella was writing her own book I was pretty intrigued. If I'm honest though, I didn't expect much because she's a blogger, not an author. Shortly after the release of 'Girl Online' it was revealed that the book was in fact ghost written by Siobhan Curham. Personally, this doesn't make me think of the book any differently.

Under the alias Girl Online, Penny blogs her hidden feelings about friendship, boys, high school drama, her crazy family, and the panic attacks that have begun to take over her life. When things go from bad to worse, her family whisks her away to New York, where she meets Noah, a gorgeous, guitar-strumming American. Suddenly Penny is falling in love - and capturing every moment of it on her blog. But Noah has a secret, too, one that threatens to ruin Penny's cover - and her closest friendship - forever.

At first I really struggled to enjoy this book. I felt like it was definitely aimed at a younger audience and I found some of the plot to be incredibly cringe worthy, but once Penny was in New York and had met Noah, I became hooked. As well as it being a really cute, fluffy story it also touches on various more serious subjects such as: sexuality, anxiety, cyber bullying, and bereavement. Although it wasn't 100% written by Zoe, like we all first thought, you can definitely see her personality throughout the book! I think what I loved the most is that a good part of the book is set in Brighton and they often mentioned places that I've been to, such as JB's Diner which made it so much more relatable.

Overall, I surprisingly really enjoyed this book and will definitely be purchasing book two. If you enjoy books such as the ones written by Sophie Kinsella, I think you would really enjoy this too!

Have you read Girl Online?

Benefit Rockateur Blush

Hello Lovelies! I hope you're all well. As I've probably mentioned before, Benefit are a brand that don't usually interest me that much, but all I've been hearing about the last few months is how amazing the boxed blushes are and in particular the Rockateur blush, so I popped it on my Christmas Wishlist and luckily I got it!

In terms of packaging - I just don't love it. Usually Benefit packaging is so cute and girly and something that looks perfect sitting on your dressing table, but the combination of the snakeskin and pink lace together just look so incredibly tacky to me. As it's one of their 'boxed blushes', it comes in the standard hinged cardboard box which also contains a little mirror and brush, but to be honest, I never use either.

"Pick up the beat with a rush of heat! This rockin’ rose gold cheek powder gives a famously provocative flush that turns heads on-stage and off. The crowd will go wild for its sexy faceted design, accented in luxe gold. For an encore, the custom angled, dimensional brush gives rich, show-stopping payoff every time"

The product itself looks incredibly shimmery and at first I was a little worried it might make me look like a human glitter ball, but once applied I don't find it looks overly shimmery at all. It just gives you the most perfect subtle glow, which is just what I go for when looking for the perfect blush.

Overall, I'm completely obsessed with the Rockaeur blush. It's quickly made it's way in to my everyday makeup routine and as soon as it runs out I will repurchase! Which means alot coming from me because I'm never usually bothered by blushers. If you're looking for a subtle peachy/pink blush then I would definitely recommend giving this a go!

Do you like Benefit blushes?
